Signed, Sealed, Delivered

She's mine. I signed the bill of sale today (for $1), the boarding contract and the list of special arrangements we had agreed to. They even threw in free hauling to the vet. They moved her today from her extremely large and expensive stall to a smaller one farther from the office because a new boarder wanted to pay full price. This was part of our arrangement. Miss seemed fine in her new digs and was getting along famously with her new pony neighbors. Willow put a bridle and surcingle on her today and lunged her. At first she wasn't that crazy about having all that tack on but she shrugged her big shoulders and went to work. We'll get a saddle on her this weekend.

Pinch me. I'm a horse owner. I am humbled by the farm's trust and belief in me, this is obviously a very special horse to them. I found out today Miss has a very nice wood tack trunk complete with brass nameplate, although it doesn't have much in it. Willow is taking me to the general tack store after my lesson on Saturday to pick up the few essentials I need right now, and will keep her eye out for a good deal on a saddle.

Here's another shot of Mystere, showing her other good side.

  3. What a great story. Congrats. Can't wait to hear how the saddle stuff goes. She seems like such a flexible horse to make it through these transitions.

  5. She's a beauty. The bonding between you girls will move into a great teamwork.
I am still using the same brushes I used back in the early 70's on a black filly. Don't be afraid to buy good used equipment. Pretty soon your new tackbox will be overflowing with things you can't live without.

  8. Thanks for your sweet comment, D :) Getting over the infertility thing is hard. Options are limited. I am too old. I am too poor. I have few choices in that regard. Oh poor me! Meanwhile, wallowing is so unattractive, isnt it? I get busy with all the wonderful and magical things that life presents and offers and find I am profoundly, and deeply grateful for what I have. It isnt about one or the other either. I can grieve about the one and be grateful for the rest of it simultaneaously. I have found this to be an incongruous truth and one that has taken me years to realise. It is a kind comfort, at the end of the day.....I'm so happy for you and Mistere, can I just say that again?! What a great blessing for both of you to have found each other!

Congratulations on your new girl...and how special that barn of yours must be to offer you such a great deal as far as training and learning on your very own horse! Hummingbird is right...some of us gals have to go a different route to appreciate how beautiful our lives really are. Horses are such a gift. Have fun!
